Drone Pilot/Data Reduction Technician
Davis Engineering & Surveying, LLC is looking for a motivated, skilled, and experienced individual to fill the position of Drone Pilot & Data Reduction Technician. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of surveying experience with drones, boundary surveys, construction staking, as-builts, topographic and utility projects and will be a self-starter, capable of working on site independently with a visual observer. The individual must be able to coordinate with project managers, clients, superintendents, and other surveying and engineering professionals. The individual who is awarded this position will be responsible for, but not limited to: conducting flights for construction layout, engineering, and boundary teams as directed and reducing data collected by pilots as directed by project managers. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring client satisfaction and communicating progress with their supervisor.
Duties
Produce necessary fieldwork for each assigned project quickly and efficiently through the use of surveying equipment including Drones, GPS, Data Collectors, Robotic Total Stations, Computers, and other devices.
Timely transfer all necessary project files, save in the appropriate location, reduce data, and prepare base files for departmental use.
Ensure field data collected is complete, accurate, and communicate return trips to supervisor.
Maintain Company equipment, vehicles, inventory, and data files.
Prepare and interpret field notes and to communicate findings and details to supervisor.
Qualifications
Appropriate communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to make appropriate field decisions when coordinating with co-workers, clients, contractors, and other consultants.
The ability to work alongside and teach team members with a positive attitude.
Experience with DJI and Leica equipment preferred, but not required.
Position requires the ability to work reasonable overtime to meet project demands.
Ability to lift/carry a minimum of 50 pounds for extended periods of time, endure adverse weather conditions, rough terrain, and inclines.
Ability to walk at least 2 miles through rough terrain and/or a 1:1 slope.
Position requires frequent travel (some overnight) and may require the utilization of a company-owned vehicle. The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license and an excellent driving record.
